Redskins do Cowboys a favor

IRVING, Texas -- The New York Giants' loss is the Dallas Cowboys' gain.

A good weekend for the Cowboys that started with a 31-15 win Saturday at Tampa Bay, turned into a good weekend Sunday with New York losing at home to Washington 23-10. The Cowboys can wrap up their third NFC East title in five years with a win next week vs. the Philadelphia Eagles at Cowboys Stadium and a Giants loss to the New York Jets.

The Eagles remain alive in the battle for the division even at 5-8, but the Cowboys can put them to rest by avenging their 34-7 loss at Lincoln Financial Field on Oct. 30.

The Cowboys have some wild-card hopes if they end up losing one of their final two games, but they would need help from Detroit and Atlanta to qualify.

While the Giants did the Cowboys a favor Sunday with their no show at MetLife Stadium, they can still win out and claim the division.
