IRVING, Texas -- Left tackle Doug Free was fined $7,500 by the league for a clip at Tampa Bay last Saturday that did not draw a flag from the officials, according to a source.
Free was fined for hitting a defender in the back and below the knee on a running play. It was his first fine of the season.
Five Cowboys have been fined this season. Wide receiver Kevin Ogletree was fined $7,500 for a face mask penalty at San Francisco on Week 2. Outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware was fined $15,000 for a hit on Buffalo quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick on Nov. 13. Cornerback Frank Walker was fined $7,500 for an unnecessary roughness penalty on Miami tight end Anthony Fasano on Nov. 24.
Rookie fullback Shaun Chapas has the largest fine of the season, $20,000 for a blindside hit on a punt return Dec. 4 at Arizona.
