Free-agent WR Laurent Robsinson joins Ben and Skin to discuss his first season with the Cowboys and his desire to return.

“This is where I want to be,” Robinson said during a Friday appearance on ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM’s Ben and Skin Show. “It doesn’t matter if I’m the No. 1, 2 or 3. I feel like I have a good fit here.”

The 26-year-old Robinson is entering unrestricted free agency off a breakout season. After signing with the Cowboys in September, Robinson tied for fourth in the NFL with 11 touchdown catches. His 54 receptions and 858 yards were also career highs for the five-year veteran who was hampered by injuries during stints with the Atlanta Falcons and St. Louis Rams and was cut by the San Diego Chargers at the end of the preseason.

Robinson outperformed oft-injured $54 million receiver Miles Austin and put up numbers that were comparable to those produced by 2010 first-round pick Dez Bryant. His performance likely will earn him a long-term, eight-figure deal, either with the Cowboys or another team.

The Cowboys can’t begin negotiations with Robinson, who played for a veteran minimum salary of $685,000 this season, until free agency opens in mid-March. However, Robinson said the Cowboys have indicated that they are interested in bringing him back.

That interest is definitely mutual, as Robinson appreciates the rapport he has with quarterback Tony Romo and enjoys playing in an offense with a variety of weapons.

“Money doesn’t drive me to play this game,” Robinson said. “I play because I like to have fun. I think I have a good fit here with the Cowboys.”
