Weather will cooperate for Cowboys
The Cowboys have split time between Oxnard and San Antonio over the last few years, even divvying up their camp between both spots in 2010.
This will be their first full-time stop in California since 2008, when they were followed by the “Hard Knocks” cameras and finished a disappointing 9-7 and missed the playoffs. The split camp of 2010 may have led to a sputtering 6-10 season.
Instead of the controlled climate of the Alamodome and the artificial turf, the Cowboys will not practice in temperatures above 72 degrees this week, if the forecast is correct, and will have the use of two grass fields at their Residence Inn River Ridge complex.
“It’s great weather, great timing,” tight end Jason Witten said. “It’s just all work. It's a great setup for us, the facilities to practice and meetings. It’s a great time to just focus on football for the next three, four weeks and get better. Obviously we know we’ve got a tough schedule, first game going against the champs. This is a great place. I think everybody enjoys it.”
