OXNARD, Calif. -- Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones was impressed with several younger players Sunday after a nearly three-hour scrimmage that saw them get the bulk of the snaps on the back end.

"We really wanted to see the rookies live and I like what I saw," Jones said. "I liked what I saw from (Tyrone) Crawford. I saw (Kyle) Wilber get in there and do some good things."

Crawford, a third-round pick, was getting some second-team snaps at defensive end. Wilber, a fourth-rounder, is getting snaps at outside linebacker on the second and third teams.

Yet the interior of the offensive line was challenged at times Sunday.

Injuries have affected the depth at that position, prompting the front office to sign Daniel Loper and Derrick Dockery.

"We can't help but keep our eye on the interior of the offensive side," Jones said. "We had guys get a lot of reps to the extent that one had to get a couple of IVs. That's hard to do out here in this weather in Oxnard."

Jones also liked what tackle Jermey Parnell and guard Ronald Leary did.

"I liked the way Parnell, and I like what Leary is doing over there. I think we got a chance, although it looks like we have been hit pretty good (by injuries) but I expect our guys to get back in. I don’t think we are in trouble at all on the interior relative to numbers."

The Cowboys currently have guards Mackenzy Bernadeau, Bill Nagy, Kevin Kowalski and Nate Livings out with injuries. Bernadeau could return next week.
