Play of the day: Andre Holmes hangs tough
That made his catch across the middle, when he kept on moving after a collision with strong safety Barry Church, especially encouraging.
Holmes caught the ball on the intermediate crossing route and got hit hard enough by Church to make the crowd go, “Ooooh!!!” The 6-foot-4, 223-pound Holmes bounced off Church and didn’t bobble the ball at all.
“I didn’t know he was there,” Holmes said. “I just wanted to catch the ball. No matter what, just catch the ball.
“I know what I’ve got to do. I’m a big body, so I’m supposed to go up there and make physical catches and always come down with it.”
