Jones got exactly what he wanted with Wednesday's 24-17 win at MetLife Stadium.
"I want you to know that I jumped up and did a high five when I saw that we opened up with the Giants here," Jones said. "It was because of this taste that we had in our mouth with how we left it up here and how we left it at the end of the year. It was the perfect antidote, although obviously quite a challenge, but it was the perfect antidote to come up here, a great opportunity to get not only physically a test but get our minds right.
"If we could get out of here with a win, it would be a good antidote for what ailed us at the end of last season."
Knowing the Cowboys had to face the Giants twice anyway, Jones saw the season-opening trip to New Jersey as a gift. It gave the Cowboys an opportunity to start the season by slaying demons against a division rival that had won seven of the previous nine meetings, including eliminating the Cowboys en route to two Super Bowl titles in the last five years.
"Just start it off and let’s get this out of our mind and out of our throat and go forward," Jones said.
