IRVING, Texas – Time of possession can sometimes be an overrated and misleading statistic, but the Cowboys were able to hold on to the ball for 34:07 in their 24-17 win against the New York Giants on Wednesday night.
What’s more notable is that it came on only 57 offensive snaps.
The Cowboys had only one game last season with fewer offensive plays: Oct. 30 at Philadelphia. In that game, they ran 49 plays in a 34-7 loss. They held the ball for 17:51.
In the two losses to the Giants last season, they ran 58 and 59 plays and held the ball for 25:41 and 25:27, respectively.
