Russell Wilson poses challenge to Dallas D

IRVING, Texas – In the regular-season opener, the Cowboys knew where New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning was going to be.

Manning has great awareness and knows how to slip and slide away from trouble, but he will rarely escape outside the pocket.

On Sunday, the Cowboys will see a vastly different quarterback in Seattle’s Russell Wilson, but the experience the defense has against another NFC East quarterback, Philadelphia’s Michael Vick, should help in getting ready for the Seahawks’ rookie.

In two games last year against Dallas, Vick ran 10 times for 60 yards.

Wilson ran eight times for 20 yards in Seattle’s Week 1 loss to Arizona and ran for 150 yards on 10 carries, including a 32-yard touchdown, in the preseason.

“Communication on defense up front with the front seven, knowing what defense he can escape in and understanding the rush lanes, that’s going to help us out because he goes around,” outside linebacker Anthony Spencer said. “When people aren’t open he’s going to run around.”
