Rob Ryan: 'I don't need to be a distraction'

| Cowboys DC Rob Ryan on how he plans on working in CB Mike Jenkins, matching up against Seattle, how he and the defense has changed over the past year and much more. Listen |
Ryan plans to watch what he says during those Friday sessions, which generated a ton of headlines and sports-talk radio fodder last season. A team PR representative politely cut off Friday's session after seven minutes, which was significantly shorter than the norm last season.
Ryan declined an interview request after his defense played well in the season-opening win over the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants. He said Friday that will be his postgame policy all season.
“I’m just trying to do the right thing,” said Ryan, who insists this is his idea and not a directive from his bosses. “I don’t think I need to be a distraction for this football team. I think there’s a way the Dallas Cowboys do things. That’s a professional way to do it.
“I don’t need to be outspoken out there. I’m going to let our players do the talking. It’s time to quit talking and start doing something. That’s what we all buy into as a defense, that’s what I buy into and that’s what we’re all believing in.”
