IRVING, Texas – Defensive end Marcus Spears returned to practice Thursday, giving hope that he would be available to play Sunday against Tampa Bay.

Spears suffered a knee injury in last week’s loss to Seattle and did not practice Wednesday. He could replace Kenyon Coleman in the starting lineup against the Buccaneers with Coleman missing his second straight day of practice with a hyperextended knee.

Safety Gerald Sensabaugh was not on the field during the portion of practice that is open to the media. He has a calf strain that could keep him out 1-2 weeks. He has missed only one game since joining the Cowboys in 2009.

Linebacker Alex Albright (stinger) also sat out his second straight day of practice. If he is not able to play, then there would be a trickle-down effect on the special teams units. Rookie Kyle Wilber could make his debut Sunday as a result.

Nose tackle Jay Ratliff (ankle), center Phil Costa and safety Matt Johnson (hamstring) continued to miss practice but were on the field for rehab work.
