ARLINGTON, Texas – In a game that featured 10 of 24 drives that lasted three plays and three more that lasted four plays, the Drive of the Game is fittingly one that traveled all of 11 yards and last three minutes, 25 seconds to give the Cowboys a lead they would never give up.
Punter Chris Jones narrowly escaped having a punt blocked for the second straight week when Dekoda Watson was somehow unable to get his hands on the football after breaking free through the line untouched. UT-ex Jordan Shipley fumbled the punt and newly signed linebacker Orie Lemon picked up the fumble at the Tampa Bay 34.
Seven plays later, Dan Bailey had a 32-yard field goal for a 10-7 lead with 2:51 left in the half.
This the anatomy of a drive gone wrong that ends up OK. On first down, DeMarco Murray was dropped for a 1-yard loss. On second down, Doug Free had a false start. On third down, Tony Romo scrambled 9 yards for a first down.
The next three plays lost 2 yards on another Murray run and two incomplete passes.
At least Bailey was perfect, drilling his first of what would be three field goals.
