IRVING, Texas -- Of the seven men who have participated along the offensive line this season, right guard Mackenzy Bernadeau has drawn the ire of Cowboys fans.

On the season, Bernadeau has allowed a team-high two sacks and has been penalized once. Coach Jason Garrett has been questioned about Bernadeau's starting status since the loss to Chicago, and each day Garrett has defended Bernadeau and said he'll remain with the same five.

But Bernadeau admits he's struggled this season.

"It's unacceptable, in my opinion," Bernadeau said of his play. "I definitely have to step my game up. As an individual, and as an offensive line, (we) take pride in protecting our quarterback and it's something I have to do better."

The Cowboys want Bernadeau to have position flexibility, and he's been working some at center during practices. The Cowboys, however, expect him to remain the starter at right guard considering they signed Bernadeau to a four-year, $11 million deal this offseason to solidify that position.

"I'm rotating in there occasionally, just to keep it fresh or whatnot," he said. "Right now, I'm just trying to improve my stance at guard.

"I just got to get better. That's what I have to do."
