IRVING, Texas -- Center Ryan Cook (hamstring) was absent from Wednesday's practice session. Cook took over the starting job when Phil Costa tweaked his back three snaps into the season opener at the New York Giants.

Costa is practicing and should start at Baltimore on Sunday afternoon.

After team stretching, outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware and wide receiver Miles Austin were getting some extra work done in rehab. Both players have been on the injury report with hamstring injuries, but haven't missed any games because of it. The extra stretching is done as a precaution more than anything else.

Inside linebacker Bruce Carter (hip) was in full pads and ready to practice. He was injured in the Week 4 loss to the Chicago Bears. Nose tackle Jay Ratliff (ankle), defensive end Kenyon Coleman (knee) and inside linebacker Alex Albright (stinger) participated in the portion of practice open to the media.

Rookie safety Matt Johnson, who has participated in a handful of practices due to hamstring and back injuries, was in full pads on Wednesday. Johnson practiced with the team during the one practice it held last week during the bye.

There is no word on whether punter Chris Jones (knee) will practice or play at Baltimore. It appears Brian Moorman will resume the punting duties on the road unless Jones recovers in time.
