DeMarco Murray is getting better
Murray walked through the Cowboys locker room with no protective boot or knee scooter. He wore sneakers as he strolled through and smiled when asked about his status.
Asked how he's feeling, Murray said, "It's getting better, it's better, it's better."
When asked would he return next week at Atlanta, Murray repeated that he's getting better.
It seems the Cowboys are not quite sure when Murray will return to the field because he's still recovering. Coach Jason Garrett said Wednesday Murray isn't trying to put too much weight on his foot.
Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones was uncertain about his starting running back's status when asked about him Wednesday.
"I don’t think it’s long term," he said. "I think we’ll have him back in the foreseeable future."
Jones was then asked if the Cowboys have Murray for the Falcons game and he said, "I wouldn’t predict."
The running back position is fragile for the Cowboys. Murray's out and backup Felix Jones has a bruised left knee that caused him to miss Wednesday's practice. Jones was a limited participant Thursday and baring any setbacks, is expected to start against the Giants.
Phillip Tanner and Lance Dunbar are the other running backs on the roster and they split carries in practice Wednesday with the first-team.
