In four NFL seasons, Bennett caught 85 passes for 846 yards and four touchdowns. Bennett had no touchdowns the last three seasons.
But in 2012 with the Giants, Bennett has 25 catches for 305 yards and three touchdowns. Sunday, he meets the Cowboys again. In the first Cowboys-Giants game this season, Bennett caught four passes for 40 yards and a touchdown.
"I have nothing to show the Cowboys or anything like that," he said to reporters Thursday in New York. "All my emotions are to this organization and to the things that we’re trying to build and relationships I’m trying to build with these guys here, so I have nothing to show them. I have nothing to show to anybody else outside this organization and myself."
Bennett said he does have an affection for Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. He spoke to Jones after the first game and plans to call the owner this week.
"His mom passed away and Jerry is a great guy and I just want to reach out to him and send my condolences to him and his family," Bennett said. "He was always an awesome person to me, so it was sad to hear. I’ll probably give him a call this afternoon."
Why didn't things work out in Dallas?
You can blame many things. Bennett's inconsistent play, the play-calling of Jason Garrett, Bennett being the No. 2 tight end behind Jason Witten and maybe Tony Romo's selection in whom he passes the ball to.
The Cowboys expectations on Bennett were pretty high, given he was a second-round pick in 2008, but it didn't work out.
