IRVING, Texas -- Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray missed practice Wednesday with a sprained foot but said he's feeling better.

"We're moving in the right direction," Murray said of his rehab.

It appears the Cowboys won't have their starting running back for a third consecutive game with a foot injury suffered Oct. 14 at Baltimore. Murray has missed a total of five games in his brief NFL career. In his rookie season, Murray missed the last three game with a fractured ankle.

After undergoing surgery, Murray didn't miss any of the offseason workouts and participated fully in training camp. He was off to a strong start in 2012, rushing for 131 yards on 20 carries in the season-opening game against the New York Giants.

But Murray hasn't reached 100-yards again, gaining just 106 yards the next three games. Against the Ravens game, Murray rushed for 93 yards on 14 carries before suffering his injury. As a team, the Cowboys rushed for 227 yards in the loss.

Murray's injury raised questions about his durability.

Coach Jason Garrett said Murray's health issues coming out of Oklahoma weren't something to worry about then and aren't now.

The Cowboys have lost inside linebacker Sean Lee for the season after he underwent toe surgery Tuesday. Lee, like Murray, encountered health problems coming out of Penn State. Lee had recovered from knee surgery and missed some of the offseason practices his rookie season to get fitted for a brace. He missed two games his rookie season of 2010 with a hamstring injury and was out one game with a dislocated wrist last season.

"We actually felt good enough about each of those players to draft them and what their injury history is," Garrett said. "We felt like those injuries were specific and they were over them we didn't think they were a risk coming (to the NFL). Now obviously they've gotten hurt at different times in their NFL careers so you can make a converse argument. But we felt really good about those players."
