Healthy Mike Jenkins ready to contribute

IRVING, Texas -- Mike Jenkins said the Cowboys' injury situation is kind of like playing tag. When you get touched, it's somebody else's turn. Now it's Jenkins' turn to get more playing time.

Orlando Scandrick is done for a few weeks as he recovers from hand surgery, and the Cowboys must fill the slot corner spot with a bevy of players.

Jenkins, who has gotten limited snaps at the position, Brandon Carr and Vince Agnew will see some work in the slot in practices this week.

"The biggest thing is, it's not who's playing what, it's going to be the communication," Jenkins said. "Everybody is capable of playing any (secondary) position on the field, as long as we communicate and everybody is on the same page."

Jenkins missed games against Philadelphia and Cleveland because of back spasms. But Jenkins returned to the field on Thanksgiving Day against the Washington Redskins and played some slot corner when Scandrick went down.

In terms of playing it full-time, that's uncertain.

"I felt pretty good," Jenkins said. "I'm not sure if I'm ready for it or if that's going to be the situation this week (against Philadelphia). They're working us inside and outside. Last week it was spread out."
