Charlie Peprah looking at 2-3 week absence

IRVING, Texas – The Cowboys will likely have to make do without safety Charlie Peprah for the next few games because of a foot injury, according to a source.

Peprah’s absence further depletes a secondary that will be without cornerback Orlando Scandrick for at least the rest of the regular season because of hand surgery, entering Sunday’s game against Philadelphia.

Peprah signed with the Cowboys on Oct. 24 and has played in the last three games, mostly in the nickel defense. Without Peprah the Cowboys will likely have to mix and match their safeties next to Gerald Sensabaugh in the sub packages between Danny McCray and Eric Frampton, who are dealing with nagging injuries.

They have used Brandon Carr at safety in some games, but without Scandrick it wouldn’t seem they could move him away from cornerback.

“You just have to make it work,” coach Jason Garrett said. “You lose guys and you have to have guys maybe play different roles than they did the previous week or sometimes that happens within a ballgame … You’re trying to get your best guys out there to put them in position where they can be successful.”
