IRVING, Texas -- The support for Cowboys nose tackle Josh Brent is still strong in the locker room.

After it was determined by team officials that Brent won't be allowed on the sidelines during games because of the potential distraction it caused, Cowboys' players will continue to be there for the nose tackle.

"Support is support," fullback Lawrence Vickers said Wednesday. "Josh understands the things that are going on, we understand the things that are going on but one thing, our house is going to stay good and strong. We're going to stick with our values and the morals that we have and that's being there for each other. So regardless of what's going on, nothing can't stop that. That's what we're going to do is be there for our brother."

Last week Brent was placed on the reserve/non-football illness list. Brent is out on bail after being charged with intoxication manslaughter resulting in the death of practice squad linebacker Jerry Brown.

Brent attended the first half of last week's Cowboys-Steelers game. He left in the early stages of the third quarter after the Cowboys were criticized during the broadcast for having him on the sidelines.

"He understood why some people were upset, but was glad to see him," defensive end Jason Hatcher said.

Later Hatcher said, "Yeah, it kind of hurt me because we don’t ever want him to feel alone. There’s a right place and a right time for everything. I don’t know if it was handled right or handled wrong, but it was just good to see him out there on the sideline. It put a little spark in me to see him upbeat and smiling. At the same time you know he’s probably
beating himself up inside. But just being around the game he loves and to come in there and put a smile on our face as well as him, that was an unbelievable feeling. From now on I don’t know what will happen as far as him coming to a game but the support of him is going to be amazing from us."
