IRVING, Texas – DeMarcus Ware will play in his 127th straight game Sunday against New Orleans, but never before has the Cowboys’ outside linebacker dealt with this many injuries.
Ware has been bothered by a stinger at times this season and is currently slowed by right shoulder and right elbow injuries but not enough to keep him out of games.
“I’m feeling good enough to play on Sunday, so that’s good,” said Ware, who’s 11.5 sacks leads the Cowboys.
Ware has been forced to leave a handful of games for different amount of times during the course of the season but he has always returned. Ware said the brace he needs for his elbow does not limit his power.
Ware had nine sacks in the first eight games, but only 2.5 in the last six.
“It’s not like I’m limited,” Ware said. “It’s more for protection to make sure it doesn’t get hyperextended again.”
Sitting out is not an option.
“I haven’t played through the (number of) injuries I’ve had but you see a lot of guys on the team that are banged up or not playing,” Ware said. “If you can get out there and make some plays and play consistent still with the injuries you have, you’ve got to look at it that way.”
