IRVING, Texas -- The Dallas Cowboys held their annual Dallas Cowboys U high school football camp at Valley Ranch on Thursday.

More than 160 high school football players from North Texas participated in the event which included a 7-on-7 football game, life-skills sessions, lunch, gear and good times.

Quarterback Tony Romo's team defeated wide receiver Miles Austin's team in the 7-on-7 tournament.

Tight end Jason Witten's team won the tournament last season.

The high school players were selected with assistance from the National Football Foundation, which coach Jason Garrett also used to help with his annual football camp at Princeton.

"When you can put a smile on someones face, just for four hours, they really look up to you," defensive end DeMarcus Ware said. "You're really role models to them and that never gets old."
Calvin Watkins joined ESPNDallas.com in September 2009. He's covered the Cowboys since 2006 and also has covered colleges, boxing and high school sports.
