OXNARD, Calif. – It took 12 practices, but the Cowboys finally had a fight in training camp.

Upset that he was dumped on his back by Ernie Sims, running back Lance Dunbar bulled Sims, setting off a brief scuffle between the offense and defense that lasted less than 20 seconds. Sims was able to yank on Dunbar’s facemask before the crowd joined in.

Two interesting notes from the tete-a-tete: With chaos all around him, DeMarcus Ware went for the loose ball, keeping up with the defensive mindset to take the football away. But receiver Anthony Armstrong was able to beat Ware to the football. And the other was seeing Tony Romo pull Dez Bryant and DeMarco Murray away from the group.

After the play Sims stood by himself and defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin had some calming words for him.

Later in practice, Sims broke up a Kyle Orton pass to Dunbar, but the two had no reaction after that snap.
