IRVING, Texas -- The first injury report of the 2013 season was released on Wednesday and running back Lance Dunbar (foot), safety Danny McCray (hamstring) and defensive end Anthony Spencer (knee) did not participate in practice.

Guard Ronald Leary (knee), who is listed on the injury report, was a full participant in practice.

Dunbar said he's doubtful for Sunday's game against the New York Giants and while he's doing some rehab work, his progress isn't developing fast enough for him to play in the opener.

"Yeah, I took a big step from not walking to running around a little bit," Dunbar said. "It's very disappointing, the injury is a big setback but you can only worry about things you can control."

With Dunbar out, expect Phillip Tanner and rookie Joseph Randle to pick up carries behind starter DeMarco Murray in Sunday's game.

Spencer's status is iffy because the Cowboys are hopeful he can play at least a few snaps, but if he's unavailable in some ways George Selvie and Edgar Jones will play at left end. With Ratliff out, the Cowboys will start Nick Hayden at defensive tackle.

"We’ve got to shuffle a lot of people in and out," defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin said. "We’ve just got to make do. All I know is when you play Sunday night and there’s 11 guys out there, I don’t care what your last name is, first name, whatever, I do, but you’re a starter. Play like a starter. It’s why you signed on."
