IRVING, Texas -- This has been a frustrating season for Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Ware.
He's got six sacks, and his streak of seven consecutive seasons with double-digit totals is seemingly coming to a close with two games remaining in the regular season. Ware has dealt with a stinger, a quad injury and a sore back this season.
"Injuries are going to be there and you just have to play through it," Ware said. "At the end of the day, you have to be positive in this situation and help the team."
It's hard to know if Ware's health or declining play due to age (31), are the reasons for his low sack totals. Ware also has just two sacks since returning from the quad injury Nov. 10, a loss at New Orleans.
Perhaps Ware started breaking down after the 2011 season. He finished with 19.5 sacks, the second-highest total of his career, had three games with five or more pressures and eight games with three or more.
But in the last two seasons, Ware has had just nine games with three or more pressures and recorded just 1 1/2 sacks the last six games of the 2012 season.
Ware said his body isn't betraying him.
"I still feel good, still explosive, still able to do everything I need to do," Ware said. "But again, you have to be effective and you have to find a way to do that."
