Brandon Carr rejoins Cowboys

OXNARD, Calif. -- Dallas Cowboys cornerback Brandon Carr has joined the team in training camp for the first time following the death of his mother, Kathy, on July 30.

Carr had been with his family since the Cowboys arrived in Oxnard, California, on July 22 and arrived in camp on Friday. After missing 11 practices and a preseason game, Carr will likely be worked in slowly to make sure he is in top condition before he practices.

The Cowboys played only three cornerbacks in Thursday’s preseason loss to the San Diego Chargers: B.W. Webb, rookie Terrance Mitchell and Korey Lindsey, who has yet to practice with the team, with injuries to Morris Claiborne (knee), Sterling Moore (groin) and Tyler Patmon (hip) and the coaches deciding to sit Orlando Scandrick.

Claiborne said he would return to practice today.
