IRVING, Texas -- The Dallas defensive players frequently profess their love for Wade Phillips. They hardly know the new head coach.
“I didn’t really deal a whole lot with him,” nose tackle Jay Ratliff said. “Whoever the head coach is, we just need to give them our all and none the less. That’s all I know to do.”
Interim coach Jason Garrett doesn’t seem concerned with establishing a relationship with the defense. He has more important things on his mind, like trying to prepare the Cowboys to actually perform respectably Sunday afternoon against the Giants.
There won’t be a getting-to-know-you period with Garrett. He doesn’t have time for that.
“Honestly, we’re just going to get going,” Garrett said. “We’re going to get going to work. It’s going to happen early on Wednesday morning and they are going to understand the New York Giants are going to present a great challenge for us on Sunday afternoon.”
