ARLINGTON, Texas -- Tony Romo suffered a right hand injury on the opening drive of the game and is in the locker room getting further evaluation.

Romo was hit by Philadelphia defensive end Jason Babin on a third-down pass and was slow to get up.

Stephen McGee is taking over for Romo. McGee has not taken a snap this year and has played in only two games in his career, including a start to close the 2010 season at Philadelphia.

UPDATE: Romo returned to the sideline after the Cowboys’ second series without any wrap or brace on his hand, however it did get wrapped up later. Owner and general manager Jerry Jones delivered a message to coach Jason Garrett on the sideline before Romo re-appeared on the sideline.

Romo threw a few passes before sitting down.

Romo suffered a fractured rib and punctured lung in Week 2 at San Francisco but was able to return and lead the Cowboys to an overtime victory. He did not miss a game.

He missed 10 games last year with a broken collarbone. In 2008, Romo suffered a fractured right pinky finger at Arizona and missed three games.
