Roy on Romo: 'We're getting there'

By Tim MacMahon

IRVING, Texas – Roy Williams still isn’t happy. And he isn’t hesitating to express his frustration.

But his angst has nothing to do the rapport he’s developing with Tony Romo. Williams vowed to avoid that subject since the chemistry between quarterback and receiver became a controversial subject a couple of weeks ago.

Williams’ role in Sunday’s loss to the Green Bay still stings. It was his best statistical performance since being traded to the Dallas Cowboys, but the five catches for 105 yards and garbage-time touchdown were overshadowed by a fumble and key drop.

“We lost,” Williams said, “so that pisses me off more than anything.”

Williams has, however, put together two consecutive productive games for the first time as a Cowboy. He’s been targeted 15 times in the last two games, catching 10 passes for 180 yards and a touchdown.

Compare that to Williams’ poor production when he made the comments about not even being close to on the same page with Romo. Williams was targeted 37 times in his first six games of the season, catching only 14 passes for 249 yards and two touchdowns.

“We’re getting there,” Williams said, declining to elaborate further about his blossoming relationship with Romo.
