Cowboys have 'best' bye-week practice
By Tim MacMahon
IRVING, Texas -- The Cowboys' renewed focus in practice wasn't a one-week thing.
"That was the best open-date practice that we’ve had since I’ve been here," Wade Phillips said Wednesday afternoon. "The guys worked hard today. They executed well. The concentration was excellent.
"I think it was a combination of things carrying over what we’ve been doing. I think that’s important to them. We emphasized that, and I thought they responded well today."
Several players have talked about the importance of sustaining the sense of urgency after the backs-against-the-wall whipping they delivered Sunday in Houston.
"Just the attention to detail, the focus, our mindset, our whole approach, it obviously paid off," Keith Brooking said. "I’ve said all along that you just show up and win on Sunday, so we have to prepare that way and just focus.
"Every day is a grind. It’s extremely important for us to keep that mindset. We’re not relaxing right now. We’re at work right now."
