Ware wraps up second sack title
By Todd Archer
PHILADELPHIA -- For the second time in his career, DeMarcus Ware led the NFL in sacks for a season. But he needed a rally Sunday to get there.
Ware had his second three-sack game of the season to finish the year with 15.5, one better than Kansas City’s Tamba Hali.
Ware constantly beat backup tackle Austin Howard, and Philadelphia coach Andy Reid was slow to give Howard help during the game. Ware helped seal the win with a 9-yard sack of Kevin Kolb on Philadelphia’s final possession.
Ware’s 15.5 sacks are the second-most by a Cowboy since 1982 -- when the NFL counted sacks as an official stat -- to his 20-sack season of 2008. It was the seventh three-sack game of his career and the 17th multiple sack game of his career.
"Every time I looked up 94 was making a play," interim head coach Jason Garrett said. "He put tremendous pressure on their quarterback … We talk about his physical ability and that’s apparent, but his approach, how he competes is what was on display today and that was impressive."
