Dez Bryant meets with Tony Romo
By Calvin Watkins
Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant tweeted late Friday that he had a meal with quarterback Tony Romo and center Andre Gurode.
So why is this a big deal?
Bryant has been in the news in the last month for getting banned from a Dallas mall, and he was sued by two jewelers for an amount totalling more than $700,000. Bryant settled one lawsuit for a little over $240,000.
It's Bryant's off-the-field troubles that are raising more questions about his ability to deal with life in the NFL. But Bryant having dinner with some of his veteran teammates indicates that he's reaching out. Not so much for help but for bonding.
Romo has a strong relationship with fellow wide receiver Miles Austin and is best friends with tight end Jason Witten. It appears Romo is trying to build one with Bryant, the talented wideout who finished the 2010 season with 45 catches for 561 yards and six touchdowns before he suffered a season-ending broken ankle Dec. 5 at Indianapolis.
Bryant didn't respond for comment.
