Keith Brooking will be a Cowboy in 2011

By Todd Archer

IRVING, Texas -- When the futures of Marc Colombo and Marion Barber were broached during press conferences the last two days after the Cowboys picked Tyron Smith and DeMarco Murray in the first and third rounds, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones was non-committal.

“We don’t have to right now make a decision and haven’t,” Jones said. “That goes across the board.”

But Jones said “absolutely, unequivocally,” when asked whether Keith Brooking would be with the Cowboys in 2011 even with the addition of second-round linebacker Bruce Carter.

Brooking, who turns 36 in October, was credited by the coaches with 151 tackles in 2010 with one sack and six quarterback pressures in 15 games. He is entering the final year of his deal and has a $2.2 million base salary.
