A look at the Cowboys free agent signings

SAN ANTONIO -- Todd Archer told us about some of the restructured contracts of DeMarcus Ware and Miles Austin last week.

A closer look reveals the Cowboys turned $6.515 million of Ware's projected $6.7 million base salary into a signing bonus for 2011. Ware's base salary now is $685,000. This move was to create salary cap space and Ware's cap number moved down from $11.3 million to $5.986 million.

The Cowboys created salary cap space by restructuring the contract of Austin as well, turning $7.85 million from his projected $8.5 million 2011 base salary into signing bonus. It also turned his base salary into $685,000. His cap number is now $2.256 million down from the projected $8.5 million before the restructured deal.

The Cowboys made several signings during the free agency period that's still on going and we have a breakdown of the deals.

Left tackle Doug Free received $10.3 million to sign and will get the following base salaries:

2011: $700,000
2012: $6 million
2013: $7 million
2014: $8 million
2015: $8 million
2016: $8 million

The 2015 and 2016 are voidable seasons based on playing time.

Defensive end Marcus Spears received $3.5 million to sign.

Base salaries are as follows:

2011: $750,000
2012: $2 million
2013: $2 million
2014: $3 million
2015: $4 million

Defensive end Jason Hatcher signed for $1.8 million.

Base salaries are:

2011: $700,000
2012: $1.5 million
2013: $2 million

Guard Kyle Kosier received a $2.1 million signing bonus.

Base salaries are:

2011: $900,000
2012: $1.25 million
2013: $2.25 million

Defensive end Keynon Coleman picked up a $690,000 signing bonus.

Base salaries are:

2011: $810,000
2012: $1.9 million

Safeties Abram Elam and Gerald Sensabaugh each received a $700,000 signing bonus and will get base salaries of $1.8 million.
