Cowboys lose out on Josh Thomas
By Calvin Watkins
The Cowboys were hoping to bring back fifth-round pick, cornerback Josh Thomas, to the practice squad. But he was claimed by the Carolina Panthers according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Currently, the Cowboys have Mike Jenkins, Terence Newman, Orlando Scandrick, Alan Ball and Bryan McCann as their cornerbacks on the 53-man roster. They would have liked to have Thomas, a rookie from Buffalo, to develop on the practice squad with the hopes of pushing McCann, a second-year player, for a call up later in the season.
Update: Fullback Chris Gronkowski, who was released Saturday, was claimed by the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. Safety Andrew Sendejo, another player cut on Saturday, was claimed by the New York Jets.
Earlier, the Cowboys released backup guard Montrae Holland and signed Derrick Dockery.
