Injuries: Terence Newman, Marty B could return
By Calvin Watkins
The Cowboys might get some good news concerning the health of their team.
While an MRI confirmed that cornerback Orlando Scandrick has a high ankle sprain, cornerback Terence Newman and tight end Martellus Bennett could return to practice Wednesday.
Newman missed the entire preseason with a groin injury suffered in training camp but over the last week has looked good running laterally and showed a good burst when running straight during rehab stints at Valley Ranch.
Bennett said he started cutting last week and expects to practice Wednesday. He suffered a sprained ankle in the preseason.
"It's always frustrating," Bennett said of his injuries. "I just do what the trainers say, and that's what I do around here."
Mike Jenkins, the other starting cornerback, is battling a bruised shoulder and hyperextended knee. He suffered the shoulder injury in the fourth quarter -- and later returned -- during Sunday's loss at the New York Jets. Jenkins, however, will be limited in practice this week.
