Defense getting used to the noise
By Todd Archer
IRVING, Texas -- Usually when a team prepares for crowd noise at a game during the practice week you think about the offensive issues that are presented on the road.
The Cowboys brought out the loud speakers on Wednesday for the defense. While Cowboys Stadium is not among the loudest venues in the NFL, it gets loud enough for a defense to struggle with communication.
The Cowboys are still learning everything defensive coordinator Rob Ryan wants and his system has more checks before the snap than Wade Phillips’ or Bill Parcells’.
“Defensively you’ve always got to communicate,” safety Abram Elam said. “With hand signals and everything we do, you want everybody to be on the same page. You just can’t assume everybody knows.”
