Chances will come for Tashard Choice
By Todd Archer
IRVING, Texas -- Tashard Choice has fumbled twice in the last two games but coach Jason Garrett is not ready to discount the tailback from the Cowboys’ offense.
“Defensive players are masters of getting the ball out,” Garrett said. “You’ve got to hold the ball more securely. He understands that. He’s carried the ball a lot in his career. It hasn’t been an issue for him in the past. We’re going to continue to believe in him. But he needs to understand he’s got to lock the ball up because those are difference-making plays in the game.”
Choice did not play after suffering a shoulder injury on his fumble vs. St. Louis. This season has been a struggle for Choice, who has 75 yards on 28 carries.
“He has not been as productive, but again you’ve got to look at the whole scheme of when he’s gotten his opportunities and how the whole picture looks when he’s getting the chance to carry the football,” Garrett said. “You know he was banged up a little bit. He had the calf thing during training camp so he hasn’t really been himself as a runner. But he’s a guy that keeps banging away and we’ll keep trying to give him some chances as well and see if he can take advantage of them.”
