As a result, it seems natural that they’d have vested interest in watching tonight’s Giants-Saints game. A New Orleans win would give the Cowboys a full game lead over the Giants in the two-team race for the division title.
“That is a big plus, so I will be a Saints fan tonight,” safety Gerald Sensabaugh said with a laugh. “Drew Brees is my buddy. Just go out there and do what you’ve got to do to win the game.”
That seems obvious, right? Not to a couple of other Cowboys defenders.
Outside linebacker Anthony Spencer and defensive end Marcus Spears both said they had little interest in watching the Monday night game. Their point was that the result was irrelevant to them as long as the Cowboys, who play the Giants twice in the last month of the season, continue to take care of their business.
“We’re in the driver’s seat right now,” Spencer said. “We’re going to be controlling what’s going on the rest of the season. As long as we’re winning games, nothing else really matters.”
Added Spears: “[The Saints] don’t help us. We control our own destiny right now.”
