Five-star: Eli Manning to target Scandrick, Newman
By Bryan Broaddus
Five-star question: Will Victor Cruz become the fourth consecutive receiver to have a 100-yard game against the Cowboys' secondary or will another Giants' receiver do it?
With how the Cowboys secondary has played the last three weeks, there is a chance that two of the three Giants receivers will have a shot at a 100-yard receiving day.
In the last five games, Terence Newman has had two outstanding days and three where he wasn’t as good as he has needed to be. When Newman has played press coverage, he has played much better. It's when he has been off that he hasn’t driven on the ball like we had seen in the past. I really liked Mike Jenkins' game last week against the Cardinals. His movement, quickness and aggressiveness appeared like he had not missed any games with the hamstring problems. Orlando Scandrick is back to his normal nickel role, which I think is a good thing.
I mention Newman and his struggles, but Alan Ball and Frank Walker continue to see action as well. They, too, have given up catches in coverage.
I don’t worry about how Jenkins will play vs. the Giants, but I do feel that Scandrick and Newman will be under attack all day from Eli Manning, Hakeem Nicks, Mario Manningham and Victor Cruz. For the sake of the question, Nicks and Cruz will be the Giants receivers that will have big days if Rob Ryan cannot get rushers home on Eli Manning.
