Rob Ryan is proud of the defense
By Calvin Watkins
TAMPA, Fla. -- As he walked out of the locker room to the team bus, Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan looked satisfied.
His defense held the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to no points in the first half, 190 yards of total offense for the game, forced three sacks and had four tackles for loss.
"I'm proud of them," Ryan said. "Guys did a great job. We played a more sound game, not to many mental mistakes. It was good. I thought we executed well and we played more zone than we have, especially in the second half after they kept hitting crossing routes. But the guys did good and we’re ready for the next challenge."
Injuries to outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware (stinger) and nose tackle Jay Ratliff (rib cage strain) limited their snaps, and the Cowboys gave younger players such as Alex Albright and Clifton Geathers more snaps.
