Jason Garrett reaches out to Andy Reid

By Calvin Watkins

OXNARD, Calif. -- Cowboys coach Jason Garrett started his Sunday afternoon news conference offering condolences to Eagles coach Andy Reid whose oldest son, Garrett, was found dead in his dorm room at the club's training camp at Lehigh University on Sunday.

Garrett sent Reid a text message offering his support and the Cowboys as an organization are expected to reach out to the veteran coach.

"Andy is a great guy, he's an outstanding football coach, but he's a great guy," Garrett said. "He's been really good to me and so good to so many people in the NFL for a long, long time. He's part of our fraternity and this is really, really sad day for their family and really for everybody in the NFL. We wanted to express our condolences to them and just wanted to let them know we're for them if they need any help from me or the Dallas Cowboys organization."

Offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg and defensive coordinator Juan Castillo will take over the team until Reid returns.
