Play of the day: James Hanna's second TD catch
By Tim MacMahon
OXNARD, Calif. -- With Laurent Robinson and his 11 touchdowns from last season gone, the Dallas Cowboys can use all the red-zone receiving weapons they can get.
That just might include rookie tight end James Hanna.
The speedy Hanna, a sixth-round pick out of Oklahoma, starred against the second-team defense during Thursday’s red-zone drills. He caught a couple of touchdown passes against inside linebacker Orie Lemon, who has for the most part had a solid camp.
A grab that Hanna made on a crossing route in the front of the end zone was particularly impressive. Lemon had tight coverage, but the 6-foot-4, 249-pound Hanna effectively used his body as a shield and snatched the ball out of the air.
It was the kind of play that made you wonder why Hanna had only nine touchdowns during his college career, including just two his senior season with the Sooners.
