Kyle Wilber adjusting to life with club
By Todd Archer
IRVING, Texas -- Kyle Wilber is looking forward to his debut Sunday at Seattle after missing the season opener at the New York Giants as he continued to recover from thumb surgery, but first he will have to get used to wearing a club-like cast on his left hand.
While not as bulky as the club Sean Lee was forced to wear last year because of a dislocated wrist, it’s still a little cumbersome.
“It’s still kind of different,” Wilber said. “I use my thumb a lot to grip somebody at outside linebacker going against offensive linemen and it’s not like I can do it with the club. It’s hard to control.”
Wilber’s immediate on-field contribution will probably come on special teams, especially the coverage units. The Cowboys face one of the league’s best return men in Leon Washington. Wilber missed most of the offseason recovering from finger surgery and hurt his thumb in the first preseason game at Oakland on Aug. 13.
“I’m real anxious to just get out there and help my team win,” Wilber said.
