DeMarcus Ware on RGIII: Like a new sheriff in town
By Calvin Watkins
IRVING, Texas -- Ask Cowboys outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware about Washington Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III and you hear a man who's impressed.
Griffin led the Redskins to a 40-32 victory over the New Orleans Saints, completing 19-of-26 passes for 320 yards and two touchdowns. Griffin had a 139.9 quarterback rating. Of his 19 completions, 13 were for first downs.
Of the five rookie quarterbacks who started last weekend, Griffin had the most impressive performance.
"That lets you know that it's sort of like a new sheriff in town," Ware said. "You've got Michael Vick, he runs the ball and plays really well, and now in the division you've got RGIII, he does the same thing. He runs the ball, he's really poised in the pocket and can throw the ball down the field and he got a lot of big plays and the division just got a little more stronger."
The Cowboys don't get their first look at the Redskins until Thanksgiving Day before meeting again in the regular-season finale Dec. 30. In his career, Ware has 101.5 sacks, with 11 of them coming against the Redskins, the third-highest total against any NFL team.
