Cowboys sticking with Chris Jones at punter

By Calvin Watkins

IRVING, Texas -- The Cowboys will not sign a punter and will stick with Chris Jones heading into Sunday's game at Baltimore, according to a source.

Jones missed the Week 4 game against Chicago with a sprained knee and was replaced by Brian Moorman. Jones was supposed to miss at least two weeks -- the Cowboys had a bye week after the Chicago game -- before possibly returning.

Moorman injured his groin during warm-ups for Wednesday's practice, putting the team in a precarious situation. Jones had punted during walk-throughs earlier this week, but there some doubt about his availability. But Friday morning, Jones punted during the open media portion of practice, leading some to believe he would be OK to play.

Friday afternoon, the team worked out three punters, Daniel Sepulveda, T.J. Conley and Chas Henry, to prepare themselves in case Jones wasn't available.

But Jones is ready, so the team won't sign another punter.

On the season, Jones had a net average of 40.7 yards with five of his 11 punts landing inside the 20.
