Jerry Jones reacts to losing Sean Lee
By Calvin Watkins
IRVING, Texas -- In a nice little 10-minute conversation with reporters Wednesday, Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones shared his thoughts about losing inside linebacker Sean Lee for the season with a toe injury.
"They had him playing quarterback back there, so that is going to be an adjustment," Jones said outside his office at Valley Ranch. "His play is obvious. That is all there. There is no need to minimize it."
Bruce Carter will maintain his spot at strong side linebacker and Dan Connor will take Lee's position on the weak side. On passing downs, newly signed linebacker Ernie Sims was inserted over Connor.
"Connor is going to have to (step up) and will step it up, make the kind of plays he (is) physically able to do," Jones said.
Lee is very competitive and he didn't want to undergo surgery, but Jones said it was inevitable.
"To the extent of it, he didn't want to," Jones said of the surgery. "He had to. It was not an elective thing as i saw it."
