Cowboys sign third-round pick J.J. Wilcox
By Tim MacMahon
Only the top two picks of the Cowboys’ draft class have yet to sign after third-round pick J.J. Wilcox agreed to a four-year deal.
The deal is worth roughly $2.8 million with a signing bonus of a little more than $586,000.
Wilcox, the No. 80 overall pick in the draft, is expected to be a major contributor on special teams and has an outside chance to challenge for a starting job at safety as a rookie. The Cowboys are high on the potential of Wilcox, a big hitter with good instincts who played receiver and running back at Georgia Southern until his senior year.
First-round center Travis Frederick and second-round tight end Gavin Escobar are the lone two Cowboys draft picks who have yet to sign. Both deals are expected to get done well in advance of training camp.
