Play of the day: Miles Austin's touchdown

By Todd Archer

OXNARD, Calif. – In the Saturday morning walkthrough, the Cowboys worked on their tight red zone plays with Miles Austin delaying just a second to draw the defender before turning up field.

In the afternoon session Tony Romo had Austin run the same route so he could get a feel for the throw.

When the Cowboys got into team situational work, the same situation came up, the play was called and Austin had a back-shoulder touchdown down the seam with linebacker Sean Lee in tight coverage but expecting the throw to lead Austin.

“We spoke about it and he said this is where he’s going to throw it and he put the ball on the money,” Austin said. “He’s really good at figuring out where defenses want to go and how to get people in spots to do that.”

Austin had a slight confession.

“I don’t know if both my feet were down, I’ve got to be honest,” Austin said. “Gotta keep it real.”
