He made several units run plays multiple times until it was right, and a few expletives could be heard. Even defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin was a little peeved telling the defense to execute a few things again.
At one point, Garrett kicked the second team out of a drill for the third team, but with injuries to the line, it meant right tackle Edawn Coughman had to remain on the field and work with the last unit. Garrett sent Coughman to the bench and moved starter Doug Free with the third team so the offense could run a play.
Last Saturday, Garrett said the Cowboys' effort was sloppy during a morning walkthough. When the Cowboys practiced Saturday afternoon, Garrett said the team improved and had a good practice.
That wasn't the case Thursday morning after the Cowboys had a day off.
"It's a big situational day," Garrett said. "We're working on a lot of different situations that come up in the game. It's the first time they've seen it. We're rehearsing (Thursday morning) and then practice (it) this afternoon and sometimes there are some things you're not going to have exactly right. That's the nature of the team on the grass walkthrough sessions we have in the morning."
